Angus Council is planning a £43m investment in its housing stock, including measures to bring around 1,000 empty homes back into use. The RICS UK Construction Monitor for Q1 2026 reports that construction activity weakened during the quarter, with workload indicators turning more negative and declines seen across both residential and commercial sectors. RICS

Somerset Council plans to deliver 580 new council homes over five years to boost local housing supply. In Chester, over 400 city centre homes under the Northgate regeneration scheme are set for public consultation. Horsham has a proposal for up to 180 homes at Hornbrook Farm, while in Argyll & Bute, Cala Homes (West) and Helensburgh Golf Club propose 145 homes with 25% affordable housing. In Darlington, 130 homes at Burtree Garden Village have been approved. Meanwhile, Cheshire West and Chester Council has deferred a decision on 110 homes near Tattenhall, requesting changes to the housing mix from Taylor Wimpey.
