The UK social housing sector is accelerating investments in energy efficiency, sustainability, property maintenance, and housing upgrades through major new tenders.

South East Consortium has unveiled a £1bn, 48-month initiative for Decarbonisation Partnerships Framework, enabling councils and housing associations to accelerate their net-zero transition. This framework covers energy efficiency upgrades, whole-house retrofits, renewable energy installations, insulation works, heating system replacements, ventilation improvements, and carbon reduction strategies, ensuring sustainable housing solutions. Scotland Excel has also announced a future opportunity for Energy Efficiency Contractors Framework with 4 different lots, supporting councils and housing providers in retrofitting buildings and reducing carbon emissions. The lots include Professional Services, Building Fabric Measures, Heating, Hot Water and Ventilation, and Renewables and Energy Storage Measures.

Camden London Borough has introduced a £500m, 48-month Capital Works Contractors Framework, covering construction, property repairs, fire safety improvements, mechanical and electrical upgrades, and retrofit projects. The framework allows participation from other London boroughs, ensuring a streamlined procurement route for essential housing works.

ESPO (Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation) has launched a £250m, 48-month Total Facilities Management Framework. The framework provides a national procurement route for hard and soft FM services, supporting councils, housing providers and public sector bodies in maintaining and improving building operations efficiently. Arun District Council along with Hampshire County Council has tendered a £200m, 96-month Combined Cleansing Services contract to support waste collection, street cleaning and public facility maintenance. The contract covers residential waste, garden waste, and public toilet cleaning services across popular tourist areas in Bognor Regis, Littlehampton and Rustington.

LHC has issued a prior information notice for a £165m Roofing Systems and Associated Works Framework, set to launch as a future opportunity. This framework will support roofing replacements, maintenance and associated works for housing providers, schools, emergency services and local councils, offering an efficient procurement route for public sector projects across the UK. North Lanarkshire Council is seeking a £50m, 60-month contractor for Solar PV Panel Installation and Renewable Technologies. The contract covers solar panels, battery storage, air-source heat pumps and EV charging solutions, supporting decarbonisation and energy efficiency improvements across social housing stock.

Salisbury City Council has announced a £3.2m, 36-month Planned and Reactive Maintenance contract to maintain and enhance public housing and council-owned buildings. The contract covers responsive repairs, planned maintenance, and minor refurbishments, including electrical, plumbing, structural repairs, roofing, drainage, and general upkeep of council assets. It also includes landscaping, footpath repairs, and maintenance of public conveniences, parks, and open spaces, ensuring high standards across the city’s infrastructure. Chesterfield Borough Council is tendering a £2.7m, 24-month contract for the Supply and Installation of Kitchens and Bathrooms in Domestic Properties.  This initiative aims to modernise housing stock, enhance living standards and ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations.

Salix Homes is procuring a £1.85m, 60-month Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) and Associated Services contract to ensure electrical safety and compliance across Salford’s social housing. The contract includes domestic and commercial electrical inspections, testing, certification, fault diagnostics, and remedial works, ensuring properties meet regulatory standards and maintain safe living conditions for residents. Furthermore, East Riding of Yorkshire Council has introduced a £1.29m, 69-month contract for the Maintenance and Performance Monitoring of Combined Heat and Power Units across operational council buildings. This contract covers remote monitoring, periodic inspections, servicing, reactive maintenance, and emergency repairs, ensuring optimal efficiency, reliability, and compliance of CHP systems in council-owned facilities.
