The UK social housing sector continues to see significant investment across maintenance, development, and safety upgrades, offering insight into the evolving priorities of housing authorities and associations. The following awards highlight key projects currently underway.

Demonstrating rapid mobilization for urgent housing needs, Platform Housing Group has awarded a £11.1m contract to a consortium of contractors including Snape Contracting Services, Switched Positive Electrical Contractors, G E Bright Electrical, and others. Spanning 21 months across the East and West Midlands, the contract covers vital property care services such as void refurbishments, door and window repairs, electrical works, roofing, and flooring. Issued under direct award due to extreme urgency, it bridges the gap until a full contractor strategy is implemented.

Addressing critical fire safety improvements, Bassetlaw District Council has appointed Sentry Doors to supply and install approximately 1,100 fire doors to individual dwellings. The £6m contract runs for 24 months in the East Midlands, reinforcing the council’s commitment to tenant safety and regulatory compliance. Prioritizing green spaces and estate upkeep, Stonewater Ltd has selected Fairways Contracting and Krinkles UK for regional grounds maintenance services across the West Midlands. Valued at £2.2m, the two-year agreement (with potential three-year extensions) includes multiple lots covering urban housing estates in areas like Bromsgrove, Solihull, Walsall, and Coventry, ensuring residents benefit from well-maintained communal environments.

Driving forward new council housing development, Lincoln City Council has awarded a £10m design-and-build contract to Belvin Construction for the Jasmin Green Housing Scheme. Over a 29-month period, the project will deliver 50 EPC A-rated homes with roads, drainage, and green space infrastructure. Refreshing interiors for existing stock, Homes for Life Housing Partnership has enlisted JR Facilities Management to undertake cosmetic upgrades to 16 flats in Musselburgh, East Lothian. The £453k project, set over three months, includes installation of new kitchens, bathrooms, and internal finishes—enhancing quality of life for residents in Scotland’s social housing sector.

Improving building resilience in the North West, Progress Housing Group has awarded a £200k contract to Specialised Group for flat roof replacement works across its Lancashire properties. Spanning 24 months with extension potential, the contract supports both planned and reactive maintenance to preserve long-term asset value.
