Vital upgrades continue across UK housing from major adaptations to essential maintenance as councils and housing associations award key contracts boosting accessibility, safety, and quality living standards.

Leading the way, Vale of Glamorgan Council has launched a £7.27 m Framework for Disabled Adaptations across its housing stock, appointing 2D Building Contractors, Physical Adaptation Solutions, R & M Williams (Holdings), Kingfisher Developments (Wales), and Consilio Construction and Architecture. The 24-month programme will deliver a wide range of adaptation works under the Council’s Disabled Facilities Grant, covering essential improvements such as ramped access, door-entry systems, wet-room installations, and specialised kitchen and heating upgrades to help residents live independently in their homes.

Next, Barcud Shared Services has unveiled a £1.5 m, 24-month framework for Voids Refurbishment and Kitchens and Bathrooms, appointing a diverse pool of Welsh contractors including CNC Home Improvements, S R Building Solutions, Cardo (Wales & West), Bemrig Group, Starlight Electrical Services, Property Building Maintenance (Wales), and EMRC Group. The framework supports refurbishment and kitchen/bathroom replacement projects across multiple social housing partners ensuring quality living conditions across Wales.

Meanwhile, Your Housing Group has awarded a £1.4 m, 12-month contract to Dasco Construction for the Supply and Installation of Kitchens and Bathrooms across the North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, East Midlands, and West Midlands. The programme will refresh kitchens and bathrooms across multiple schemes as part of the Group’s FY 25/26–27/28 improvement cycle, enhancing tenant satisfaction and property standards.

In a crucial safety investment, Amplius has appointed Doors Plus under a £1.08 m, 5-month Provision of Fire Doors contract, covering the East Midlands, West Midlands, East Anglia, and South East. The project focuses on the supply and installation of certified fire doors to ensure compliance and strengthen fire safety measures across residential buildings.

Demonstrating a focus on health and hygiene, Notting Hill Genesis has set up a £12 m Pest Control Framework with Ark Pest Control, London Network for Pest Solutions, Bidvest Noonan (UK), Environ Property Services, Anti Graffiti Systems (AGS One), and Rentokil Initial UK. Spanning 48 months, the framework will cover Greater London and surrounding areas, offering responsive pest-management services and allowing other social landlords to access the contract.

On the development front, Bromley London Borough has appointed Hill Partnerships for its Bellegrove Main Works Contract, valued at £20.76 m over 31 months. The project involves the demolition and redevelopment of 100 Mickleham Road, creating 68 affordable dwellings for supported living and social rent. 

Concluding this round of awards, Lincolnshire Housing Partnership (LHP) has contracted Aspect Contracts and Addison Green under its £3.69 m, 36-month Asbestos Removal Contract – Lot 4 (Call-off). Delivered under a JCT measured-term agreement within the EN:Procure Framework, the works will cover licensed and unlicensed asbestos removal across occupied homes, ensuring safety compliance and maintaining healthy housing conditions.
