UK social housing awards include repairs, new builds, and key contracts for compliance, fire safety, refurbishments, and asbestos works.

Major investment in planned maintenance sees Barnet Homes award an £28m, 84-month External Repairs and Redecorations Programme to Quinn (London). Covering housing stock across Greater London, the contract involves large-scale external redecoration, renewal of wall finishes, brickwork, joinery, rainwater goods, roof coverings, fascias, soffits, and entrance doors. The programme also requires detailed property-by-property surveys, cumulative spend monitoring, and strict quality inspections, ensuring both compliance and consistent delivery across the borough.

Strengthening day-to-day housing management, Cottsway Housing Association Ltd has appointed A1 Maintenance (Stroud) on a £2.7m procurement opportunity spanning the West Midlands, South East, and South West. This wide-ranging contract covers responsive repairs, out-of-hours emergency works, and void property services, providing a vital framework for maintaining housing stock and ensuring resident safety and service continuity.

Adding to the pipeline of electrical compliance upgrades, North Lanarkshire Council has confirmed Saltire Facilities Management as the winner of a £5m, 24-month contract for planned rewiring of low-rise communal areas. Covering both council-owned and private properties across Scotland, the works include full design, installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, alongside lighting upgrades and safety certification.

Bolstering compliance in building safety, Homes in Somerset (formerly Homes in Sedgemoor) has awarded Severnside Security a £500k, 24-month Fire Safety Services contract across the South West. Encompassing over 190 sites within a 4,000-home portfolio, the scope includes servicing, maintenance, and installation of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, lightning protection, sprinklers, smoke systems, and portable firefighting equipment—reinforcing critical safety provision across mixed housing stock.

Driving new housing delivery, Wandsworth London Borough has procured Star Contractors for a £6.51m, 12-month Construction Works contract at Eastwood North. Located in Greater London, the project entails the demolition of garages at Aubyn Square and construction of two residential blocks delivering 12 new flats. Undertaken under strict procurement compliance, the scheme represents a strategic regeneration effort to expand affordable housing provision within the borough.

Renewing core housing infrastructure, Plymouth Community Homes has selected Bell Group to deliver a £2.78m, 17-month Refurbishment Works contract in the South West. The scope spans Cecil Street, King Street, and Neswick House, covering balcony refurbishments, replacement of uPVC windows and doors, rainwater goods, roofline features, entrance upgrades, door entry systems, and external redecorations. These enhancements aim to improve both energy efficiency and long-term durability of the housing stock.

Focusing on health and safety, Torus has awarded Shield Services Group a £1m, 25-month Asbestos Removal and Associated Works contract across the North West. The procurement covers licensed and non-licensed asbestos removal across the landlord’s portfolio, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while safeguarding residents and operatives during essential remedial works.
