Fresh waves of contract awards are shaping the future of UK social housing, with critical investments spanning disrepair, solar energy, asbestos removal, and housing delivery.
Taking the lead in remedial work, Golding Homes has awarded a £1.5m contract to Saltash Enterprises for disrepair and associated works across its housing stock. The three-year contract, with a possible two-year extension, covers urgent repairs such as damp, mould, leak detection, plumbing, and general building—ensuring tenant safety and structural integrity.
Boosting vertical transport safety, Home Group has secured a long-term £4.6m call-off contract across three UK-wide lots for the servicing and maintenance of lifts. Delivered by Stannah Lifts, Classic Lifts (Scotland), and RJ Lifts Group, this 84-month deal spans ten UK regions, from Scotland to the South West.
Accelerating solar adoption, ForHousing has appointed Rothwell Plumbing Services to deliver a £1.5m, two-year contract for the supply and installation of solar panels on its residential stock – supporting the push toward sustainable and energy-efficient homes in the North West.
Transforming waste services nationwide, Kent County Council has issued a landmark £750m framework for waste management, with multiple suppliers including Veolia ES, Recorra, Suez, and Biffa Waste Services. Spanning general, clinical, hazardous, textile, and confidential waste, this 22-month contract is one of the largest of its kind and includes a £200m “total waste management” lot.
Delivering new homes with pace, East Riding of Yorkshire Council has partnered with Hobson & Porter on a £6.75m contract to construct 30 new housing units. The 16-month scheme will enhance affordable housing provision across the region. Upgrading roofing and energy standards, Geo Houlton & Sons has been awarded a £3.2m, 11-month contract for re-roofing around 290 council homes in East Riding. Works include asbestos removal, timber repairs, repointing, and the installation of solar panels where specified.
Tackling legacy safety risks, Leeds City Council has committed £6m to a 35-month asbestos removal contract awarded to Safe Strip UK, McHale Contracts & Plant Environmental. The contract is split across the west, east, and south of the city, and covers domestic properties, schools, and civic buildings—ensuring licensed, responsive asbestos removal under HSE standards.
Advancing regeneration projects, Tyne Housing Association has issued a call-off award under DPS Ref DN387749 to Walter Thompson for £1.63m in development and construction works. The award supports the association’s ongoing pipeline of capital projects across the North East.
Clearing the way for redevelopment, Barnet Homes has appointed Lovell Partnerships to complete a £635k demolition project at Silk House and Shoelands Court. The four-month contract covers site clearance, infrastructure disconnection, and all legal permissions, forming the groundwork for future housing development.
