Explore the latest UK social housing contract awards featuring decarbonisation retrofit works, insulation upgrades, asbestos surveys and external refurbishment programmes. Key projects in energy efficiency, building safety, housing compliance and new affordable housing delivery across the UK social housing sector.

Driving retrofit investment, West Lancashire Borough Council has awarded SHDF Wave 3 – Decarbonisation Works (Call-off) to Sustainable Building Services UK in a £8m contract over 36 months. The programme will retrofit 302 homes with measures including insulation upgrades, replacement windows and doors, solar PV systems and air source heat pumps to reduce energy consumption and fuel poverty.

Energy efficiency upgrades are also progressing in London where Barnet Homes has appointed Lura Constructions for SHDF 2.1 Works, a £520k programme delivering insulation, ventilation improvements, solar PV installations and associated structural and repair works across targeted housing properties.

Compliance services continue in Hertfordshire with Stevenage Borough Council awarding Life Safety Equipment – Servicing, Maintenance and Out of Hours to 3Phase Electrical Contractors for £39.8k over 12 months. The contract covers servicing and emergency response for smoke alarms, fire panels and other life safety equipment within housing stock.

New housing delivery continues in Scotland through the New Affordable Housing Project at Meldrum Grange, awarded by Aberdeenshire Council to Claymore Homes for £2.62m. The project will deliver 12 new social housing units to address local housing demand.

Building safety and compliance programmes remain a priority with Leeds City Council establishing Provision of Asbestos Surveys to Council Housing Stock, appointing Environtec and McHale Contracts & Plant Environmental under a £1.8m contract over 36 months.

Insulation upgrade works are also progressing in the Midlands where Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council has awarded Installation and Repair of Loft and Cavity Wall Insulation and Surveying – H793 to Sureserve Energy Services UK in a £1.14m contract covering insulation installation and associated surveying across void and tenanted homes.

External refurbishment programmes continue in Wales with Adra appointing G H James Cyf for External Refurbishment Works – Trehwfa & Gernant – AM 311, a £970k contract delivering re-roofing, external wall insulation and associated improvements to 21 occupied homes.

Digital and security infrastructure is also being strengthened as Lincolnshire Housing Partnership has appointed Phoenix Software under Security Operations Centre (Call-off) for £111k to deliver cyber security monitoring and protection services.

Finally, structural safety assessment work is underway through LPS Feasibility Study awarded by Portsmouth City Council to Bailey Partnership (Group) for £48.8k, delivering structural and fire mitigation analysis for four high-rise residential buildings.
