Major procurement moves are shaping the UK social housing sector today, with fresh awards spanning electrical frameworks, fire safety upgrades, facilities management, roofing renewals, and risk assessment services.

Kicking off with energy and safety, Nottingham City Council has awarded a £2m Electrical Contracting Framework – CPU 5470 to Midland Fire Security Services, SDT Electrical Services, and UK Gas Services. Running for 48 months across the East Midlands, this procurement opportunity covers planned maintenance, repairs, servicing, and testing across the council’s housing stock.

Turning to essential fire safety, Lincoln City Council has finalised a £1m Fire Door Supply & Installation Works – Lot 22B contract with Fieldway Supplies. Set for 12 months, this contract supports the supply and installation of fire doors across tenant-occupied social housing in the East Midlands. Delivered via the EN:Procure GEN4 framework, the deal underpins compliance with fire safety regulations while giving the council flexibility for extensions through to 2029.

At a national scale, the Facilities Management & Workplace Services framework led by Crown Commercial Service marks a colossal £35bn award. Spanning 57 months and covering the entire UK, the agreement has appointed an extensive roster of suppliers including ABM Technical Solutions, Amey, Mitie, Sodexo, Vinci Facilities, and Wates. The framework serves Central Government, local authorities, health, education, and emergency services, ensuring continuity in facilities management and supporting market stability while CCS develops its successor contract.

On the housing fabric front, Scottish Borders Housing Association has entrusted Hugh LS McConnell with the Provision of Roofing Works Inchmyre contract, worth £1.29m. Scheduled over 12 months in Scotland, the project will replace roof coverings across 11 communal blocks in Kelso. This targeted investment secures improved housing conditions, enhanced durability, and compliance with specifications outlined in SBHA’s tender documents.

Finally, strengthening safety compliance, Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council has awarded a £550k Fire Risk Assessments – Lot 1 (Call-off) contract to FCS-Live. With a 12-month tenure in the West Midlands, the agreement has been let through the Procurement for Housing Fire Consultancy Framework. The contract will ensure thorough risk assessments across housing stock, supporting residents’ safety and aligning with national fire safety obligations.
