Contract Awards: 29/08/2025

The latest round of housing contract awards highlights a strong push across the UK for essential repairs, energy efficiency and new-build development.

Setting the tone, Leeds City Council has awarded a £15m contract spanning 36 months for Major Repair Works in Occupied Domestic Properties. Rim Artium, Axis Europe, Equans Regeneration, Palm (Yorkshire), Ian Williams, and L Francis Construction will deliver a wide range of remedial and maintenance works across a housing stock of over 50,000 properties. The programme focuses on disrepair claims, preventative maintenance, and urgent repairs to occupied homes, including mould treatment, roof renewals, re-plastering and drainage improvements. Continuing its drive for energy efficiency, the Council has also committed £11.1m over 12 months to External Wall Insulation (Seacroft) – Wave 3 Phase 1. Awarded to Equans Regeneration, the scheme will improve insulation, reduce fuel poverty, and enhance the long-term sustainability of housing stock in the Seacroft area.

Another energy-focused scheme comes from Ashford Borough Council, which has placed a £4.4m call-off contract with Low Carbon Exchange for Energy Efficiency Upgrades. Running for 36 months across the South East, this programme supports decarbonisation through measures such as insulation, heating upgrades and other retrofit improvements.

On the regeneration side, Thirteen Group has awarded Equans Regeneration a £1.95m call-off for Cedar House. This four-month contract combines refurbishment, housing development, and decarbonisation works, reinforcing Equans’ role in sustainable housing delivery across the North East and Yorkshire.

Modernisation of infrastructure also features strongly, with Chelmer Housing Partnership (CHP) awarding a £153k, seven-month contract to Apex Lift & Escalator Engineers for Lift Replacement Works in Essex. Similarly, Housing 21 has engaged Acorn Mobility Services on a £115k, four-month contract for Passenger Lift Replacement at Terence Airey Court, ensuring accessibility and compliance in specialist housing.

Expanding into Northern Ireland, Woven (formerly Habinteg Housing Association Ulster) has awarded a landmark £14.06m contract to Alex Properties for a Competitive Land, Design and Build scheme across NIHE Area Waterside 1, 2 and 3. The project will deliver new social housing in Derry/Londonderry, covering developments from 10 to 100 units, with full responsibility for land, design, construction and completion.

Closing the awards, Foxhall Homes Ltd. has appointed LIFE Build Solutions to deliver the Former Parrot Pub Site Residential Development in Luton. Valued at £6.42m over 13 months, the scheme will transform the former pub site into 17 new homes, blending affordable and private housing with associated infrastructure and external works.
