Leading the charge in decarbonisation, Darlington Borough Council has awarded an £5m contract to Esh Construction for Lot 1 of its Retrofit and Decarbonisation Partner programme, focusing on domestic energy efficiency upgrades in Darlington. This 11-month call-off contract reflects growing momentum in the region’s green housing initiatives.

Stepping into multi-lot service delivery, North Tyneside Council has issued a £1.34m framework award for Contract 13: Internal Painting, Decorating and Minor Repairs, spanning 24 months. The contract was secured by Trident Maintenance Services, Mitie Property Services (UK), and Alfred Bagnall and Sons (North). Designed to support both housing and non-residential assets, this framework aims to provide reliable, responsive maintenance with flexibility for complex service needs. Continuing its investment in housing safety and infrastructure, the Council also awarded a £3m contract under its Housing Planned Electrical Works 2025–2027 (Contract 90) initiative. The 24-month framework was won by Capital UK Electrics, Goom Electrical, and ABCA Systems, covering electrical distribution board replacements, smoke detector installations, earthing upgrades, and ventilation works. The appointed contractors will operate as subcontractors under the Authority’s principal contractor role.

Focusing on public health and compliance, Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council has signed a £3.42m contract for Water Hygiene Services (SMBC 24029). Delivered over a 48-month period, the tender is split across two lots – one for risk assessment and consultancy, and the other for monitoring and remedial works. HSL Compliance and Hydrop ECS were selected based on best overall value, with the council limiting awards to one lot per supplier to maintain balance and performance. Strengthening asset management in the North East and Yorkshire, Thirteen Group has made an £8.2m award to Sheila Mays Carpets of Teesside for Investment and Empty Homes Flooring Services, under a 48-month call-off contract. This direct award, facilitated through Prosper Procurement’s framework DN508929, covers flooring replacements and carpet cleaning across investment works, repairs, and voids.

Delivering new homes at pace, Alliance Homes has appointed Fisher & Dean Construction for the design and construction of 8 residential units at Marsh Road (V2) in Yatton. Valued at £1.75m, the project spans 9 months and reflects the organisation’s commitment to addressing local housing needs through well-executed, small-scale developments. Enhancing supply chains for housing maintenance, Sheffield City Council has awarded a significant £24m contract for Material Supply – Plumbing, Heating & Gas (Lot 1). This 48-month call-off was awarded to UK Plumbing Supplies, Wolseley UK, and City Plumbing Supplies, as part of the 2023 Material Supply and Associated Services Framework. The contract supports essential housing repairs, heating system upgrades, and gas spares provision across the city’s social housing portfolio.
