Delivering vital fire safety upgrades, Renfrewshire Council has appointed A Alexander & Son Electrical to undertake a £718k contract over 12 months for fire alarm replacements across 12 sheltered housing complexes in Scotland. The scope includes digital fire alarm installations in 300 properties and communal areas, with phased timelines between 5–11 weeks per site. Enhancing accessibility solutions, the Hillingdon London Borough has awarded a 60-month contract worth £640k to Wessex Lift Company for the supply and installation of vertical through floor lifts. This contract was procured through a mini competition on the YPO framework, ensuring high standards and compliance.
Strengthening surveillance infrastructure, Bassetlaw District Council has selected SSC Security for a £228k contract covering CCTV service, maintenance, and new installations across East Midlands. The deal encompasses upkeep of cameras, control rooms, software systems, and compliance support with ICO data standards. Bolstering passive fire protection, Thanet District Council, via the South East Consortium, has enlisted Sureserve Compliance Fire for a £200k project to replace composite and timber fire doors at Brunswick Court in Ramsgate. The works include communal and front doors, meter cover boxes, and associated asbestos and repair tasks.
Improving communal fire safety, Housing 21 has commissioned C.L.C. Contractors to deliver a short-term, £118k contract across multiple UK regions for communal and flat entrance fire doors. The award was based on local quotes due to its sub-threshold value, aligning with Section 87(2) of the Procurement Act. Reinforcing roof durability, another contract awarded to M&J Group (Construction & Roofing) assigned a £307k project over five months for flat roof replacements.
