The landscape of UK social housing is transforming, driven by significant investments in development, sustainability, refurbishment, fire safety, and compliance.

Procurement for Housing (PfH) has awarded a £100m 36-month framework for the Social Housing Emerging Disruptors (SHED) 4 Programme, selecting Autonomous iOt, Power Circle Projects, Enevate Homes, Geobear Residential, Rubixx, and others to deliver innovative housing solutions. This national procurement framework aims to provide cutting-edge technologies, sustainability improvements, and smart housing solutions across the UK social housing sector. The framework will support housing associations and councils in adopting new construction methods, energy efficiency upgrades, and digital transformation initiatives.

Accent Housing against Pretium F21 – GFP Decarbonisation Delivery Framework has called off C.L.C. Contractors a £3m 36-month SHDF Wave 3 Decarbonisation contract under the Pretium F21 – GFP Decarbonisation Delivery Framework. This project is part of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), focused on improving energy efficiency in social housing, reducing carbon emissions, and modernizing housing stock with green technology.

Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council has called off Ecogee a £26m Warm Homes Local Grant contract to retrofit poorly insulated homes for low-income households. Funded by the Department of Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ), this three-year energy efficiency programme supports the UK’s Net Zero Carbon 2050 targets by delivering insulation upgrades, energy-efficient heating systems, and sustainable home improvements. The initiative aims to reduce fuel poverty, cut carbon emissions, and enhance the energy performance of social housing, ensuring warmer, cost-efficient homes for vulnerable residents. Richmond Housing Partnership (RHP) has secured Ian Williams for an £880k 16-month Cyclical Decorations contract, covering repainting, maintenance, and repairs across all previously decorated surfaces in its housing stock.

Enfield London Borough Council has called off OpenView Security Solutions a £1.05m 60-month contract for CCTV Installation and Maintenance. This initiative will provide enhanced public space surveillance (PSS), building security, access control, and intruder detection, reinforcing tenant safety and crime prevention in social housing areas. Newport City Homes has selected Fire Rite UK for a £500k 12-month Fire Compartmentation Works contract, ensuring fire risk assessments, compartmentation improvements, and fire stopping measures are in place. This project reinforces fire safety compliance in high-risk residential buildings.

Lancashire County Council has engaged Associated Waste Management on a £5.5m 24-month contract for the Provision of Waste Upholstered Domestic Seating (WUDS) Containing Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). This waste management contract will ensure the safe disposal and recovery of hazardous upholstered seating materials, addressing compliance with UK environmental and waste disposal regulations. West of Scotland Housing Association has awarded multiple geographical lots £1.43m, 36-month contracts to J Maintenance & Property Contractors, AL Scrubz Cleaning, Q.C.C, and CAS Contract Cleaning for comprehensive Cleaning Services, including window cleaning, communal area maintenance, and office cleaning across Glasgow, South Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire, and Ayrshire. These contracts enhance tenant welfare, hygiene standards, and facility upkeep in Scotland’s social housing sector.

Castle Point Borough Council has appointed Indecon Building for a £1.36m 11-month contract to construct New Social Housing Units on Canvey Island. The project includes two semi-detached three-bedroom homes at Benderloch Gardens and three one-bedroom terraced houses at Linden Way, supporting affordable housing growth and local community development. Durham County Council has signed an £880k 24-month contract with Simply Moving and Sleeping for the Provision, installation, maintenance, and removal of ceiling track Hoists, gantry hoists, and mobile hoists. This contract ensures accessibility improvements in council housing, supported housing, and extra care facilities, enhancing mobility and independence for tenants with disabilities.
